What makes a House a Home

What makes a House a Home

© Chris Barry

It’s not the fancy mirror on the wall
Nor the candelabra in the hall
But the loving arms that are always there
Whether you want to share a joy or shed a tear
That’s what makes a house a home

It’s not the glowing car in the garage
Or any other fancy carriage
But knowing someone is waiting for thee
Happy to transform your worries into glee
That’s what makes a house a home

You may wish for riches and seek out wealth
That doesn’t guarantee happiness or fair health
But knowing there’s always a welcome and a bed
To lay down and rest your tired weary head
That’s what makes a house a home!
